Things to do in County Durham

As well as the fascinating and cultural cities of Newcastle and Durham, there are many other interesting sites to visit near the convention venue. Here are a few, but do ask local singers for other ideas if you are able to stay in the region for a bit longer.

Beamish Living Museum

Beamish is a living museum, the first in the UK.

The museum aims to preserve examples of life in the NorthEast of England at the height of industrialisation and into the 20th Century. There is a 1950’s cinema, a traditional sweetshop, a colliery, as well as a farm with rare northern livestock breeds.

Angel of the North

An iconic sculpture by Antony Gormley – sometimes described as the UK North’s statue of liberty! Just 4 miles from the convention meeting hall, and even nearer to most hotels.

National parks:

The convention is close to some of Britain’s most beautiful national landscapes and parks. Why not stay a few days and explore them.
